Join a cohesive and collaborative team transforming the trajectory of Baltimore City youth. The Program Associate College Success is a motivated, full-time professional dedicated to our students’ college persistence, completion and transition to young professionals. You will guide students through the transition from high school to college and implement programming integral to college persistence and completion. Working directly with our high school and college students, young professionals, partners and volunteers, you will place and support summer interns and co-facilitate Summer and College Workshops. This position reports to and works closely with the Chief Program Officer.

Building STEPS (Science Technology And Education Partnerships Inc.) is a nonprofit that equips our city’s brightest students with the tools to propel them to college and career success. Through multi-year, comprehensive programming, nearly 80% of Building STEPS graduates earn a college degree, nearly all the first in their family to do so.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide proactive direct support to ensure college persistence and completion, including troubleshooting, informal counseling, campus visits and regular, multi-platform communications.
  • Connect college students with campus resources and create campus-based peer groups.
  • Implement Backpack2Briefcase strategies into students’ college plan.
  • Ease the transition from high school to college and familiarize first-year college students with academic and campus resources.
  • Inform families about college access, persistence and completion resources and strategies through communications and programs.
  • Match students with summer internship positions and serve as the point of contact throughout the placement process and internship.
  • Coordinate and manage YouthWorks logistics.
  • Facilitate Summer Workshops, including guest engagement.
  • Advance the goals and objectives of Alumni Council.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Strategic thinker and Inquisitive problem solver.
  • Effective communicator across multiple platforms.
  • Able to organize and maintain student data.
  • Self-starter who thrives in a collaborative environment and promotes student success through multiple strategies, approaches and deadlines.
  • Experience working with undergraduate college students preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Transportation to travel to area college campuses (gas and mileage reimbursed).

Salary:

The salary is $43,000 – $46,000. Benefits package includes retirement match, health care allowance, paid time off including personal, federal holidays, winter break and volunteer commitments. Work is hybrid with three days in office, two days remote. Building STEPS office is located on the campus of Towson University.

The Program Coordinator supports students on their trajectory from high school to college graduate and young professional. Focused on student outreach, engagement, communications, and data management, you will work closely with the programming team and report to the Chief Program Officer.

The Program Coordinator is a full-time position dedicated to student success through programming support.

Consistent communication and engagement are crucial to student success. The Program Coordinator focuses on student outreach, tracking student progress and related data management. You will assist the programming team with STEM Seminars, College Workshops and direct student support.

In its 24th year of programming, Building STEPS engages 200 high school students, 200 college students and 150 young professionals annually. Nearly 80% of program graduates earn a college degree and nearly all are the first in their family to do so.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with programming, including communications, organizing chaperones and facilitating events.
  • Communicate with students by text, mail, email, social media and telephone to ensure students remain connected and informed.
  • Data management, including consistent data collection and input.
  • Assist with 1:1 student support during in-school office hours and College Workshops.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

  • Empathetic of student challenges
  • Self-starter comfortable working on multiple projects and deadlines
  • Detailed orientated, capable of organizing and tracking multiple data points

Compensation:

The annual salary is $39,000 – $41,500. Benefits include retirement match, health care allowance, paid time off for personal, federal holidays, winter break and volunteer interests. Work is hybrid with three days in office, two days remote. Building STEPS is located on the campus of Towson University.
